Frequently Asked Questions

Why do your tallow based products smell like beef?

Tallow is rendered beef fat.

We made unscented for those who are more sensitive to scents, however our essential oil blends do a great job of masking that beef smell after it is absorbed by your skin.

Why does my most recent tallow based product feel different than the last one I purchased?

Tallow texture may change through the seasons that’s the nature of being natural. The cows may munch on different grasses throughout the year or even drink from a different water source that could change the color/consistency of the tallow! We believe at NKT tallow should be left in its most natural state so that it keeps all of the amazing nutrients intact. The consistency/color might look different but it is the same product you use and love.

Why is the tallow grainy?

Much like wax, tallow hardens when it’s cold & melts when it’s hot. The environment in which you store your product makes a huge difference. Colder weather hardens the tallow making it feel grainy to the touch. Do not fear though after placing the amount you wish to use in your hand and rubbing it into your skin the heat from your body will melt down those grains and your skin will be left feeling moisturized!

My tallow melted, what can I do?

Tallow is sensitive to temperature. When tallow is stored in a warm environment it may melt down completely. There is a simple fix for this, remove the tallow product from the container with a spatula and whip it with an electric mixer until it is light and fluffy again!

What sets No Knot Today’s tallow products apart from others?

We support local Arizona Grass Fed & Raised Cattle Ranchers when sourcing tallow.

What you see on our ingredient label is exactly what you’re putting on your skin! We do not dilute/purify the tallow. If you’ve ever tried another tallow product and there’s no hint of beef smell or it is really white & creamy chances are it has water added to “clarify” it. At NKT we believe clarified tallow is diluting nutrients and why would we want to do that?! We need the best defense we can get against the hard water, dry air and harsh chemicals we encounter everyday.
